Who is Cynthia Zhang of FutureX Capital?

Cynthia Zhang (张倩) is the Founding Partner of FutureX Capital, with 15 years in technology venture capital and 8 years in public-market investing, and a five-consecutive-round investor in ByteDance from 2018 to 2025.

Her earlier career spans ChinaAMC, UBS and Merrill Lynch. She holds a Computer Science degree from the National University of Singapore and an EMBA from Tsinghua University's PBC School of Finance, and completed the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford GSB. She has invested through four platform shifts, from mobile internet to cloud, hard tech and general AI, which is why she weighs a company's long-term structural value above short-term narrative heat. FutureX's method is to stand at the inflection point before consensus forms.

ByteDance is the sample case: in 2018, short video going global was not yet consensus, and she invested in five consecutive rounds from that year through 2025 (confirmed, see /about and /team).

In 2026 she founded the ClawQ (倩小虾) AI content brand, a first-person diary on AI investing published in public at no fixed cadence, only when she has a judgment to record, mirrored at /diary. She hosts the 倩姐投AI (Qian on AI) video series and podcast; the YouTube channel carries 30 episodes. She also serves as a strategic advisor to NYX Ventures and has been a donor to the Adream Foundation since 2008.

On September 3, 2026, she gave the 30-page keynote "Open Source Breaks the Deadlock" at the AI investment forum of the 2026 Fund-of-Funds Annual Forum and 7th Lujiang Venture Forum in Xiamen, on which layer of this AI cycle holds the value; the first 5 pages are public (confirmed).
