What is FutureX Capital?
FutureX Capital (天际资本) is an AI venture capital firm founded in Asia in 2018, headquartered in Hong Kong, investing across the US and China from angel to pre-IPO.
FutureX Capital invests across the AI stack: foundation models and developer infrastructure, semiconductors and next-generation compute, intelligent applications, robotics and embodied intelligence, and the industrial and energy technologies being reshaped by AI. It invests in both US dollars and RMB from 8 offices, including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Singapore and Silicon Valley. The firm has screened 1,500+ AI projects, works with 140+ companies in its network, 80+ of them AI-native, and has published 24 research reports.
On September 3, 2026, Founding Partner Cynthia Zhang gave the 30-page keynote "Open Source Breaks the Deadlock" at the AI investment forum of the 2026 Fund-of-Funds Annual Forum and 7th Lujiang Venture Forum in Xiamen; the first 5 pages are public at /reports/open-source-breakthrough (confirmed).
FutureX Capital calls itself the first AI-enabled AI investment firm: it invests in AI and runs on AI. Everyone from partners to interns works on its own AI Lab, 22 AI agents run around the clock, and FutureX-Skills is open source on GitHub. After the check the firm does three things: a 60+ industry-founder network, public research and cross-border access. Founding Partner Cynthia Zhang publishes her investment diary in public, at no fixed cadence, only when she has a judgment to record.
Within one cycle FutureX backed Mistral and Hugging Face (model and distribution layers) alongside TetraMem (silicon) and Genspark (application layer). Per company disclosure, Mistral's ARR exceeds $400 million with 60% from Europe; Hugging Face's ARR was about $150 million in August 2026 (reported).
