Which industries will AI change first?

FutureX Capital judges that the order in which AI changes industries equals verifiability times feedback cycle: code and content move first, medicine and manufacturing last.

Sectors whose results check themselves in seconds change first; sectors with a human in the loop and feedback measured in months change last. Each sector gets a 12 to 18 month window after capability crosses the threshold and before enterprise money floods in. FutureX's timetable: content and marketing 2023; software development 2024; knowledge work, education, consumer hardware and retail 2025; robotics and logistics 2025 to 2026; healthcare, finance and manufacturing 2026 to 2027. Measure how fast your core process can be verified, and you have your date.

Healthcare is arriving on schedule. At its 20,000-person user meeting on August 17 to 20, 2026, Epic put AI on a platform footing, with Agent Factory offering 120-plus prebuilt agents ahead of a 2027 general release (confirmed); on August 18 the FDA issued a discussion paper on generative AI medical devices, with comments open through October 19 (confirmed).

Robotics sits late in the order for the same reason: verification. Slow verification means slow data, so no technical route can yet prove itself, while valuations have already moved. FutureX's call: 2026 is the hardware year for humanoids, and the intelligence year has not arrived; 80 points equals zero. So FutureX backs dexterous hands and data, such as Dexmate and World Engine, and stays out of the full-body arms race. In slow-feedback sectors the constraint is how a result gets confirmed, the same organizational bottleneck that stalls agents inside enterprises.

Humanoid shipments reached 18,000 units globally in 2025, and GGII projects 62,500 in China for 2026 (reported); in May 2026 SoftBank moved to buy control of 1X at $6 billion, below the roughly $10 billion it sought the year before (reported).
